Milwaukee, Wisconsin

After 4 days of traveling we finally made it to Wisconsin--our home for the summer. The trip consisted of:

-Leaving Portland within 24 hours of getting the word to leave
-Stopping in Blackfoot Idaho to visit and stay with Mike's Aunt Krissy
-Going to Christie Tomlinson and Jake Burdis' sealing in the Idaho Falls Temple (the timing worked out perfectly!)
-Driving home to visit our families in Orem
-Driving, driving, driving, stopping in Nebraska, driving, driving, driving, driving, Mike getting sick, driving, driving, driving, driving....
-We reached Milwaukee (actually Brookfield) around midnight. Our apartment wasn't ready so we slept at the Marriott (super nice).
-Monday morning we waited around to move into our apartment
-I almost cried when I saw the place. It was dirty, empty, and doesn't have a washer/dryer (after being told it did).
-We unpacked, cleaned and ran some errands. I scrubbed down every inch of the place and feel 100 times better now. We're next the the highway though, and I get to listen to whizzing cars all day. Needless to say, I miss our Portland apartment. A lot.

Ironically, the few days after we've left Portland I've had about 4 nanny job offers and Gap called me for an interview. Go figure. I'm not sure if I'll find something here or not.

Mike's started selling again, and we're hoping this area is better in that respect. But we really miss Portland. The huge green trees, the beautiful gardens, the river, beautiful hills and homes, the coast, downtown, the shops, the nice people, the ward. Definitely one of the neatest places I've ever seen.

  1. I'm sorry my dear. That's rough. I can imagine how you feel. We had the same thing happen when we moved here. There was no bed, no shower, and the place was a mess. But it's all cleaned up now and we've become bathing pros :). It'll take some adjusting for sure. sending my love!
