I think I've been blessed with a very easy pregnancy...so far (knock on wood), and I'm grateful for that. I'm sure things will still change (esp. my body), and actually having the baby freaks me out more than anything, but for the most part, all of the things I read about why pregnancy is so hard just haven't really happened. Books sure do a great job of freaking people out.
At about 6 weeks I got really sick, but it lasted maybe 10 days and nearly quit immediately. I'm glad to finally be in my 2nd trimester. I've noticed a big difference in my appetite (I can FINALLY eat salad again), and in my mood. I feel a lot happier and have more energy (although I still sleep nearly 10 hours every night). The only negative change that's come with the 2nd trimester is the dreaded "pee every 30 minutes" syndrome (TMI...sorry). It literally was like that switch turned on at 14 weeks.
So, following a friend who did this, I thought I'd make a little list of what's been the hardest and what I've been grateful for (mostly so I can remember in later years):
Hard:
-Not wanting to eat anything for 3 full months
-Having no energy
-Being grumpy
-Getting sick every night
-"Chest" pains (weird pullings in my ribs)
-Not wanting to do anything (dishes, work, church)
Grateful for:
-A healthy pregnancy
-A healthy body
-Modern technology (being able to see and hear our baby)
-Being able to have the time to get the sleep I need
-Only getting (really) sick for 10 days
-A husband who treats me so well
I can't wait to find out what we're having! Only a few more weeks to go!
ahhh isn't pregnancy so exciting?? I am so excited for yall!! The labor/delivery was not bad AT ALL, but I had an epidural.
ReplyDeletei'm glad you have had an easy pregnancy. i think my list of hard things would be definitely too long... but i'm also just a baby i think. but once you start feeling the little guy and getting used to their own way of life in there, it definitely makes everything worth it. i already love him more than i could imagine!
ReplyDeleteI am still just so excited for you! I hope that you keep enjoying every moment of your pregnancy!
ReplyDeleteGood for you on keeping such a great attitude! That sure helps when you feel like such an alien in your own body for 9 or more months. Your are a great example! :-) One bit of advice, don't read "What To Expect When You're Expecting!" I grew up in a house with lots of medical terms, illnesses, a grandpa that was an E.R. dr, etc. so I had already heard it all before so I read it but all of my friends wished they never started because it scares the heck out of you when you shouldn't have to be! :-) I would suggest finding something less terrifying! lol
ReplyDeleteI was like you, terrified of the labor and delivery part more than anything! If I could, I would go through it 200 times more if it meant skipping the 9 months of pregnancy! It really is not as bad as you vision in your mind. You will do so great! Just enjoy your pregnancy and the last bit of time you have to sleep and spend time alone with your husband because before you know it, you will have a little one in your arms! So worth it and you will be an amazing mother!
I'm so happy for you! I can't wait to find out if it's a boy or girl. Looks like you two are doing well! Ben and I moved to Houston...i'm loving it!
ReplyDeleteHey! I just found your guys' blog! Congratulations on the baby! That is so exciting- it is seriously the BEST life change ever. It is so much fun. You guys are going to be great parents!!
ReplyDeleteI totally know what you mean about feeling like you just have a gut! I don't look like I'm pregnant - just like I have gotten a little pudgy in the middle :) and I can totally relate with you on the whole peeing a lot thing!
