*This post was inspired by my friend Kelly who is due only 1 day after me!
I'm officially half-way through this pregnancy (perhaps more if this little guy comes early),
and I have a question...
Why do they say pregnancy is 9 months?
40 weeks = 10 MONTHS!
If they didn't "count" the first month then I understand, but they DO count the first month.
Silly people.
20 Weeks and 10 lbs gain
I am definitely starting to feel pregnant
No hiding anymore!
Bring on the next 5 WHOLE MONTHS!
And technically pregnancy is only 38 weeks, but they count the two weeks before you are actually pregnant (approximately) to make it 40 weeks.
ReplyDeleteI hate the whole week to month conversion. But the funny thing is, before I was pregnant if someone told me how many weeks they are I would have had no clue where they really were. I would expect them to tell me in months.
You can go by lunar months (28 days or 4 weeks), but that means by the end you will have 10 months. What I am doing is counting backwards 9 months and going by calendar months. So, my due date is July 8th, and it is March 8th, so I am 5 months today. Yahoo!
I guess no matter how you count it, we will be pregnant for the same amount of time. It just depends on what sounds best ;)
Congrats on making it half way!
I know! Some MAN made up the whole 9 month thing. For heavens sake! Give credit where credit is due. I had the same issue... obviously :)
