Mike
...finished the semester at UVU, and is now working almost full-time (he has luckily been given more hours at work, which is definitely needed as my income has dropped for the summer). He's also been running very consistently--training for a half marathon. I'm very proud of him and amazed at how well he's done! His calling keeps him busy (YM Pres) and he does a great job with those boys.
Rachel
(aka "I")
...finished the semester at BYU and UVU. My classes were SO great, and I miss them a lot! Now I'm teaching just 1 class at BYU (290) as well as a couple hours a week at the Ballet School. Needless to say, I have a LOT more time on my hands. I'm trying to keep myself busy and productive, as I know I'm going to have a drastic wake-up call when baby comes. I've been having fun being a wife...cleaning, laundry, cooking, etc. I also have committed to start our family scrapbooks and finish them before baby comes. We need to do our wedding/engagement book, our first year, and Mike's mission.
We
(okay fine...mostly just me again)
11 weeks to go! We're getting so close to having a son. At the rate the weeks are passing, it'll be here before we know it. I always hear that pregnancy drags on, but honestly I think it's flown. I have few complaints of pain, sickness, swelling, fatigue, or any other common pregnancy symptoms (thank you Mom for passing on your baby-carrying genes to me! Maybe I'll have 8 babies too! Okay, maybe not...) The only thing really happening now is getting big (and more uncomfortable). I'll admit, it is really hard to see that scale go up when, before getting pregnant, I had finally reached a really good weight (and was finally comfortable in my body). However, my husband is wonderful, and he makes me feel beautiful even when I feel like a whale, and he reminds me consistently "honey, you're pregnant." Yes, yes, I am pregnant, but I still don't like gaining weight.
Oh but can I just say that I LOVE feeling this boy kick. Sometimes Mike and I will be having a serious conversation and I'll randomly smile really big (I just can't help smiling when I feel him!) I'm finally starting to feel different body parts poking out and sliding under my skin (sounds kinda gross huh?). It is the best feeling and it never gets old! I love waking up (or lying down at any time of the day) and putting my hands on my belly to feel him wiggle, kick, hiccup, and move. When I push lightly on both sides of my belly I feel him push out from both sides (which makes me wonder how he's situated in there...he seems totally sideways (transverse). Maybe he just has really long flexible arms and legs... :)
I'm waiting to get a camera to use for another belly photo. I was supposed to take it last Thursday, but I doubt much has changed in a week.
Nursery
(yes, yes, me again)
I've gotten to the point of "what now" in the baby's room. I finished painting the little side table (pictures to come soon when I have a camera to use). We have the basics (crib, changing table, chair), and now I'm not sure what to do. I still want to find great artwork, some wall shelves, his name letters (although we don't know his name yet), and a toy box. But those things aren't exactly necessities at this point. I also want to start stocking up on diapers and wipes and other essentials, but it's probably a good idea to wait until after the baby showers in the next 2 months in case we're given those items (although I know you can never have too many diapers...just too many of the wrong size...) I will post final pictures of the room when we're closer to being finished. I don't want to completely ruin the final surprise!
I'm LOVING these wall hangings but they are really pricey.
I'd love to make something like them (but I'm afraid I'd fail miserably)
(no, not his name)
