So, Mike and I (and baby) may have an opportunity to go to Bald Head Island at the end of the summer. I grew up going to this gorgeous North Carolina island each summer from the time I was 9 months old. The last time we all went to BHI was summer 2006. It's been 4 years!
The Old Baldy Light House
The roads are tiny and there are no cars, only golf carts
The beach (hardly a person out there)
The family--June 2006
Sunset = Incredible
Now for the dilemma...
Baby Kitto due July 25th

BHI beach trip tentatively scheduled for August 23rd

Baby Kitto will only be 4 weeks old
Am I crazy to want to travel across the
country with a 4 week old baby?

No, we might do the same thing. Rogers family reunion in Ocean Side CA is scheduled for Aug 7th to 14th! Thats even worse! Granted, as of now, I am going to be induced a week early but still!! I dont know if were going yet. I think you should just plan on maybe. Who knows you may feel like you want to die still or you may feel like a million bucks.
ReplyDeleteCarter was born November 30 and we took him home for Christmas and he was only about 3 weeks. It was actually perfect because all they do at that stage is sleep and eat. I fed him when we were taking off and landing so his ears wouldn't pop and he slept the rest of the flight.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely not. It's not flu or RSV season and chances are baby will sleep the entire time anyway. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI think you should totally go! Babies are so easy at that age. I think it would be fun!!
ReplyDeletemy mom always took us wherever. my parents actually moved when i was 2 weeks old. i agree with your friends above, they are pretty easy at 4 weeks so just make sure baby kitto is protected from the sun and have fun!!
ReplyDeleteWe drove across country with little Anthony when he was about 20 days old. And that was about a week after he just had had major surgery. You can totally do it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with everyone else! Do it!!! We just took Keira to Disneyland and the beach at 4 weeks! People told us we were crazy but it was great. She slept the whole time. Just remember lots of sunscreen for baby and a great hat and you'll have a blast at the beach! :)
