Four Months

Happy Birthday Curtis!

You are four months old today! I can't believe that you've only been with us for 4 months. I can't really remember life before you came to our family. You are such a loved boy! Being the only grandchild in both of our families, you are definitely loved by all!

I want to remember a few things about you, and hopefully one day you will love to read about what you were like at 4 months old.

-At your check-up this week you weighed 15 lbs 13 oz; you are a big boy!

-You are still the cutest baby I've ever seen! Every single day your daddy and I both will stop and say, "Ah! He is so cute! I can't handle it!"

-Your cheeks are the roundest, squishiest, yummiest things in the world!

-You are a very strong baby. You love to stand up and we only need to hold your hands or hold your waist and you hold yourself tall and straight. You have started to sit on your own, but you like to push backwards. You don't like being in a semi-reclined position; it has to be either sitting, standing, or all the way flat.

-You are not interested in rolling over. You are content to just stay on your back. You don't really like tummy time, but we are working on it a lot more and you're getting better. I was a little worried that you were behind, but your doctor assured us that you will roll when you are good and ready. He said most babies don't roll before 6 months, and the ones that do are only the ones who really want to.

-You have started really being able to grab toys and bring them to your mouth. You can see them, reach for them, and grab them. You try to eat everything.

-Speaking about eating...we will start feeding you solids next week. You are constantly watching our food when we eat, and you are definitely big enough.

-You are such a great sleeper. For a week or so you decided you wanted to wake up to eat at 3am every night. That wasn't very fun for mom. Then I decided I would try letting you fuss a bit and see if you'd just fall asleep and not have to eat. Sure enough! Now you are sleeping great without waking up at all. You usually sleep from about 8 or 9pm until 7 or 8am.

-You are so much fun! You are happy and smile at everyone. You are so expressive and sometimes I think you are much older than 4 months. I think you are a very mature spirit in a little body.

-You are now able to know when I leave the room or when I am leaving you with a babysitter. You get the cutest pouty face and then often you will burst into the saddest cry I've ever heard.

-You love your daddy! When dad comes home from work you always give him the biggest smile!

-You have eczema. We've been bathing you less and using some special lotion. You are doing much better this week!

-You have the sweetest laugh, and you laugh all the time now! Changing time is your favorite time to laugh with me.

-You are a great nurser. You're usually finished in 10-15 minutes.

WE LOVE YOU CURTIS!

  1. cuuute. He is getting so big! He does have cute cheeks!! sorry if I worried you about the whole rolling over thing with Case. His therapist and Doc said that but no one else has said it since. Curtis will roll when he wants. I guess we gotta be careful not to compare our two little guys huh? ;) You are lucky you get to feed him solids!! Cason is SOO ready but were afraid it will just constipate him more.

  4. Curtis reminds me a lot of Quinn!! ( I guess they are almost the same exact age:)... I just read about Curtis having eczema and my sister had the same problem with her baby. What kind of body wash are you using? I went to California for Thanksgiving and forgot Q's body wash and so we used the johnson and johnson shampoo. Her skin got SO dry, she even got dry patches all over her body and a rash on her back. When I got home I used her baby magic body wash and her aveeno baby lotion and her skin was great again! Just thought you'd want to try either of those to see if they will work for Curtis. Good luck! Sounds like you have a really fun boy! He is soo cute:)
