I've learned that:
I can't eat anything I want when I'm pregnant.
Next time I am exercising the entire pregnancy.
If you don't stretch for 6 months you lose flexibility. Imagine that.
Today I took my first ballet class in 6 months. It was wonderful to move again. It was harder in some ways than I anticipated. It was also easier in some ways than I anticipated. The hardest thing was losing so much flexibility. Arabesque just about killed me. My knees are achy. My hips are tight. In contrast, pirouettes have been easier since I started teaching. Conceptually I'm a much better dancer than I was 5 years ago, but physically my body isn't quite to par. Things make so much sense in my head. Now if I can just get my body to follow suit. I remember my dad telling me that he just understands ballet so much better as he's aged. What an irony. The older you get, the more you understand, but the less your body is able to comply.
I start cardio tomorrow. Yay!
girlie i'm so excited for you. i read your previous blog about how you feel, but you are still so gorgeous. i wish i could take a ballet class! it's been 2 years now! how sad is that? but i have to graduate, so i can't :( unless... do you think the teacher of 291 later in the day would be ok with me just coming to class? i can't audit it even (too many credits...) but i miss it so! well anyways hon, you are beautiful and i hear from students who don't know that we know each other say how wonderful as a teacher you are. keep it up ;)
